Burlington Sounds is a vinyl compilation showcasing artists from across Burlington’s music scene. Vol. 1 brings together a curated lineup — pressed locally and distributed through record stores and online.

The project

  • Goal: capture the energy of Burlington’s music scene on vinyl — inspiring locals to show up and inviting others to tune in.
  • Format: 1-2 songs per artist · compilation vinyl
  • Pressing: Burlington Record Pressing
  • Vinyl Mastering: Tank Recording Studio

How it’s funded

  • The first pressing will be funded through a public crowdfunding campaign.
  • The campaign allows us to gauge interest and cover upfront costs (pressing, mastering, artwork, etc.).
  • Artists take on no financial risk.
  • If the campaign does not reach its goal, the record will not be pressed.

How to submit a song

  • Send 2–3 song options (titles + listening links).
  • These should be songs with final mixes available (we’ll request WAV files after selection).
  • Song length: aiming for under 5 minutes (with some flexibility)

We’ll confirm one to two tracks per artist to shape the overall flow of the record. If you strongly prefer a specific song, let us know.

What we’ll need after selection

  • Final mix WAV (24-bit preferred, 44.1kHz or 48kHz).
  • Song credits (writers, performers, producer/engineer).
  • Optional: short bio + photo.

Vinyl-specific mastering will be handled by a local studio before pressing.

Rights

  • Ownership: you retain full ownership of your music
  • License: non-exclusive permission to include your song on this compilation
  • Costs: no upfront cost to artists

Artist perks

  • Profit share: participating artists receive all profits after hard costs (pressing, mastering, artwork, etc.).
  • 1 free record per band.
  • Invitation to the album release party.
  • Feature in the record insert: each artist will have a short write-up with references to their other music and links.
  • Local distribution + promotion: record store placement and coordinated compilation rollout.
